September Julep Maven

Hi ladies!  A quick post about the September Julep box.  They did something interesting this month. First of all it was a collaboration with Trina Turk and secondly, they gave us the option to upgrade our boxes to receive the entire collection for a total of $50.  Now..I jumped at the chance cause I'm greedy like that and thought it was a good deal.  But, it was a classic case of "eyes are bigger than the stomach" ...so to speak.
Now with the colours in hand, I'm not really loving them.  I think I'm just not a huge fan of jewel tones. They're very Kindergarten to me.

In any case... the packaging arrived beautiful and fun...

Here is the product card that comes with your choice of collection for the month, it also has a little story behind Trina Turk.

Inside was also this..I thought the art was really cool.  My adorable daughter said it was a magnet..I didn't believe her..she stuck it on the fridge. :)

As always (lately), they sent a quote.  I really love this part of the box and I keep the ones I really love.

Before I move on to individual colours, here is the first part of the collection..

And the other part...

Bare with me, they have weird names but it's kind of the story behind it.

This is Gunta, an elevated blue creme.

This is Alma, a retro dijon yellow creme.

This is Delaunay, a chili pepper red creme.

This is Popova, a youthful kelly green creme.

This is Eileen, an antique bright white creme.

This is Annie, an electric blue topaz creme.

This is Otte, a rich camel neutral creme.

This is Sophie, a chic truffle mushroom creme.

This is Hoch, a mod emerald green creme.  It's what I'm wearing right now and I don't really like it.  But, it's a good colour for fall.  This will be relegated to toes only..don't like it on my hands at all.

This is Brandt, an opaque off-black creme.

Also, if you bought the whole collection you received the mascara in both black and brown.  I've heard good things about these..so I can't wait to try them.  I hate having too many mascaras on the go since they expire quick..so it will be a while before I get to these.  Funny thing, I used to ONLY wear brown..now I'm not so sure about it.  I can't wait to try it though!

This was the whole collection..and when you look at it as a whole, it looks not too bad.  But, now that I have them in hand..I'm a bit bummed.  The colours don't seem very exciting.  I think my favourites to try would be Delaunay and Annie.

So, what do you think?  Did you get the September box?

Have a beautiful day!

  1. The colours look nice but I don't know if I would go for any of them. For a collaboration collection I would expect something more awesome

    1. Yeh, they're just too jewel toned for me. It was a bit of a let down.

  2. I think these are very mod colours! Maybe try looking at Julep lookbooks - to give you ideas of colour combos you might like.

Annie is my fave. Too blue!

    1. I totally agree with you on that! I'll definitely have a look at their blog and see if I can make this work. The emerald coloured one did not look good on my hands. :(

  3. My love for Julep has waned. The polish formulas vary in quality and I find it unacceptable that many of mine separated. I still like seeing hauls but I feel like there is better polish on the market.

    1. Yes, I totally agree with you. A lot of times the cremes come in streaky/clumpy, they dry with bubbles. And yes! I store mine upright now, to make it easier to shake because they seperate. If they were a full size bottle, they'd be $30. It's ridiculous. I don't know why I'm still subbing. New Years Resolution - drop Julep.
