The Shopping Channel - Beauty Tote Bag

I am super excited to bring you this post!  Last week, I saw someone post a deal from the Shopping Channel. I kind of groaned....TSC? How cliche!  Anyways, I saw the product..hemmed and hawed for a couple days and finally decided to go for it.  The tote bag cost $29.87 and $9.69 for shipping.  I think with tax I payed a total of about $44 and some odd cents.  The BEST part...? I got a gift certificate for $29.87 to spend on any of these full size products in their store! That means..I got ALL this stuff for the cost of shipping!  $10!  Seriously, a STEAL!  Read on to see what I got for 10 bucks! :)

The tote bag came with 6 full size items valued at $173.39!! If that wasn't enough..there's a TON of nice size sample products!

Everything came in this bag.  When I saw it online, I thought..hmm okay a bit tacky, but no big deal.  It's actually huge. It's 20"x16"x7"!! It will be perfect for the beach, or to pack health/beauty stuff for camping! :)
FULL SIZE (30mL): Prai Youth Synchronizer and cosmetic case. Retails $34.95. This is a product you use on your skin at night after cleansing and toning.  It's supposed to help reduce the appearance of age while optimizing skin's natural recovery cycle at night.
FULL SIZE (125mL): Consonant Organic Foaming Face Wash. Retails $18.00. It's meant to wash away impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils.  Fights blemishes, uneven skin tones, and environmental free radicals.  This is a truly natural product, and I'm super duper excited to try it!
Look at the cute writing on the side of the bottle! I love the non-assuming packaging of this product!
FULL SIZE (59mL): Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer. Retails $79.00.  This product claims that it is scientifically formulated to help treat fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and skin imperfections.  I feel like this might be the perfect product for me as I have recently started my journey in my 30's and have noticed those fine lines...you know the ones that everyone says they can't see..but you know they're lying to you!! lol
This is how the cream looks, nice and thick..oh and look above..that's a cute little spatula...awww! :)
FULL SIZE (10mL): Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil. Retails $15.95.  I'm not 100% about this product, I'll have to do a bit more research.  It says it helps to relieve symptoms of rosacea, eczema, acne and dermatitis.   It's nice that it's certified organic and made for all skin types..however I don't really have any of these problems. But, it talks about this berry that survives the harsh conditions of the Tibetan Himalayas by fortifying itself with over 190 bioactive compounds.  Interesting, for sure.
FULL SIZE (14.8mL): Pro Strong Prowear Nail Enamel. Retails $12.50. This is actually a really pretty shade of pink.  It's a tad lighter than it shows up in the picture and it's got fine shimmer which I love! Plus, it's always so fun to receive nail polish, right?
FULL SIZE (75mL): Naturally Upper Canada Hand & Body Lotion in Golden Maple Sugar. Retails $12.99.This product contains sugar maple extract, shea and coco butters..can you say..YUMMO!? I think I'll save this one for fall!  The only downside of this product..the packaging smells faintly like cigar..wth?! lol

Ok, I just tried it and it smells nice, not overly strong...but wow, it's amazing..my hands feel like satin! :)
Now on to the "samples."  Really, the icing on the cake.  I'm so giddy with excitement that I get to try all these high end products for pretty much free! :)

SAMPLE SIZE (14.5mL): Elysee Radiance &Retexturizing Serum.  I can't find the full size on their site. This product claims to visibly reduce dullness, roughness and uneven skin tones.  Ok! I'll give it a hook, why not?  I do have those things..you know my old skin and all. ;) It says to apply 1 or 2 drops over face in the morning and then in the evening.  Seriously, this bottle will last a long time!
SAMPLE SIZE (22mL): StriVectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub.  I can't find the full size on their site. But, their other products are quite pricey, eek! This product is meant for bi-weekly use for smoother texture and more even skin tone.  The package says it's 1.5 weeks supply..which doesn't really make sense to me if it's a biweekly (every 2 weeks) scrub.

Hmm..okay, I just read the back and it says to use it 2-3 times per week.  You know, I find scrubs to last me a lot longer than the products claim..and it's not because I have a delicate tiny face. :P  I really don't find you need a lot of product to lather up!  My Avon face wash, nearing it's end of life cycle (mornings only) was good to me for 6 months!
SAMPLE SIZE (3.12mL): It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Waterproof concealer. Full size retails $29.00 for .28 oz (Sample is .11 oz).  I'll try it..I have a love/hate relationship with concealer. I always get creasing under my eyes from those new wrinkles..ugh!? How do I prevent this?!
SAMPLE SIZE (3.4g): Purminerals Impact+ Mascara. I can't find a full size on their site. I'm always game to try mascara..it's probably the one product I spend the most money on, in my never-ending quest for the perfect mascara.  However, I'm REALLY enjoying my Benefit Bad Gal Lash! :)
SAMPLE SIZE (5.4mL): Urban Decay SuperCurl Curling Mascara.  I can't find a full size on their site. I'm intrigued though, by a curling mascara.  Plus, I don't have any Urban Decay and I know a lot of you ladies love their naked palettes!
SAMPLE SIZE (1 towelette): Tan Towel - Self Tan Towelette.  I'm still scared to use these and I'm starting quite the collection! LOL
SAMPLE SIZE (15mL): Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum.  Full size retails $45.00 for 100mL. Interesting product! One I'm actually excited to try! It's for sure something I'd consider buying full size if it's good!
SAMPLE SIZE (25mL): Kalaya Restore After Sun Treatment.  Full size retails $14.00 for 200ml. It's a handy thing to keep around in the beach bag or at home..but not sure how often I would need this considering I don't let anyone get too much sun.  We're all as pasty as this bottle. :P
SAMPLE SIZE (25mL each): IAmPure Monika Schnarre Protect/Hydrate Day Cream; Restore/Repair Night Cream. Full size day cream (comes with eye corrector) retails $59.95 for 60mL (and 15mL). Night cream retails $37.95 for 60mL.  Clearly, these are generous samples at almost half the full size! I'm looking forward to trying these..but what I am learning is that I prefer night creams because my skin always looks amazing in the morning.  Moisturizers just make me look greasy in the morning, so I only put it on my cheeks.
SAMPLE SIZE (5g): Cargo OneBase Concealer + Foundation in one. Full size retails $27.00 for 17g. Now that's an idea! Can't wait to try it.  Hope it's the right skin tone for me! Maybe this will help with the creasing...
SAMPLE SIZE (10mL): Lily Tibetan Chrysanthemum Age Rectify Cream. Full size retails $62.50 for 50mL. Interesting write up on it...we'll give it a go at some point! "The Tibetan Crysanthemum Matrixyl 3000 Cream that combines 5,000 years of traditional Chinese herbal medicines with cutting-edge Western science and technology and ingredients to help purify, detoxify and help keep healthy revitalized and moisturized skin."
Oohh look how pretty it is inside...exact colour of the container! It has a really nice light scent. Pretty!
SAMPLE SIZE (25 sheet): Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens. Full size retails $12 for 100 sheets.  Like everything else, a generous sample!  Blotting papers are a necessity and staple in my purse/office/vanity/car..everywhere..I'll never have too much of these on hand... can't wait to try them out!
SAMPLE SIZE (20g): Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask. Full size retails $30.00 for 200g. I really wish we got more of this product.. this is the kind of stuff I love trying.  It says after 1 use there is 96% less breakage.  I hope that holds up to it's promise..I'll let you know about this one soon!

That is it, that is all folks..and I'm exhausted!!! What a post!

Here is a stock image of the tote:
A stock image of all the products.  The only thing I can see different here is I received a different Boscia product..perhaps others got that one?
A stock image of all the goodies...nice! :)

So, what did you think?  Did you enjoy the post?  Did you get one of these totes?  Unfortunately, they are all sold out of it.  I think they went really quick.  However, they have the smaller version of it HERE for 19.87.  It also includes a GC for 19.87...so you're only paying $6.96 for shipping.  It includes 4 full sized products valued at $78.45 PLUS what appears to be 6 deluxe samples! Do you think I got one? ;)

Enjoy hump day ladies!

    1. Does the shopping channel have some kind of beauty box? What do they usually have?

  5. I loved your blog post! You're an excellent writer! You made me smile throughout, and even chuckle a few times. You basically wrote what I was thinking. :)

I actually picked up both the tote & cosmetic bags, and paid $10 in shipping. With the gift cards and the full-size products, it was a steal! I know some of the products while others were on my radar to try, and some I had not heard of. I am excited to try them all! I got the same products in my tote, with the exception of the Boscia item - I received the cool cleansing oil.

I wanted to recommend using a primer before your concealer. My morning makeup routine is insane, but it works. After washing, I use a serum, followed by moisturizer and eye cream. I then apply a primer before starting to use my many products. The primer smooths everything out. This might help with the creasing you experience. :)

    1. Wow, thank you so much for that compliment! :) I truly appreciate it! I seriously can't pass up a deal, I really feel like I'm missing out!

I did get the cosmetic bag as well..but it wasn't available when I first ordered the tote bag, I don't think... Soo I had to pay shipping twice.. Oh well, still a good deal right?

I will definitely try a primer, thanks for the tip. I'm not a makeup expert..I'm just an expert at spending money. ;) Which primer do you prefer?

    2. My favourite primer is Smashbox, but it isn't cheap. They have several different types and colours. (http://www.smashbox.com/products/6038/Face/Primer/index.tmpl) As per their website, it seems they also now have an under eye primer. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it might be exactly what you need.

Since I don't always have the cash to splurge on Smashbox, I have tried many other brands. At the moment I am using one from The Body Shop (http://www.thebodyshop.ca/en/makeup/illuminator-primer/skin-primer-matte-it.aspx) which is great. I have also used ones by L'Oreal and Revlon. They all do pretty much the same thing.

What is really important to know is that a little goes a long way. This product essentially sits on top of your skin, filling in all the nooks and crannies. You don't want a thick layer. Start with a pea sized amount, mush (great technical term, right?) it on your fingers and then spread it over your face. If you need more, you can always come back, but you probably won't.

Let me know which one you end up trying and how it goes! And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm not an expert or a professional, but I sure do love my beauty products!

    3. If a product is really good, then I am totally willing to spend the money on it. I just picked up Quo and I'm really liking it..but I don't think I need an overall primer..just under my eyes. So, the under eye primer may be just what I'm looking for.

I have learned a trick to mix the concealer with moisturizer to make it go on better...and it seems to do a good job actually..and you even need less if that's possible...like a dew drop or less..I can't even explain it. :S
