Ipsy - December Edition

When you are subbed to so many boxes, it just seems like a never ending circle!!  My goal this year is to pare it down to 3...the product is overwhelming and I pretty much know the stuff I really love!  In any case, they're so much fun to get, right?

There will be glitter on my carpet...I took all my sub photos on the same day and there was glitter in Starlooks!

This post is about December Ipsy which is the 2nd month in Canada. I believe the subscripiton is $15 shipped for Canadians.  They ship the bags in this super cute pink bubble envelope.  I've decided to just peel the label off and keep them to ship things out, because they're really sturdy! And, they're pink!

Inside the bubble envelope came the Ipsy product card, a $20 promo code to JustFab for the second month in a row.  It's kind of useless as it's only for new members. Boo.  And, of course the makeup bag.  Ipsy ships their subscription in a different makeup bag every month.

This is what the reverse side of the product card looks like. I thought it was cute to have the product info on Christmas Balls.  I also really like that you get deals on all brands included with the products in the bag!

This months bag was a silvery grey.  I think it's identical to last month aside from the colour.

The inside is lined with an Ipsy fabric.  A nice touch.

The first item is an Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner in Zero, which is black.  This is a .8g sample size. Aside from a sample eye shadow from Sephora I don't anything by Urban Decay.  I'm not a huge fan of eye pencils and I think I have enough now, I may just give this one away.  Hard to decide because I don't have anything by the brand. I am totally smitten with Starlooks eye definer pen and I'm terrible with eye crayons. In any case this one looks and feels really soft which makes me think it will transfer to under the eye area in no time.

The second item is a NYX loose pearl powder in Charcoal Pearl. This is a full size at 5ml.  I've seen these at Pharmaplus for $5.99. When I first looked at it, I wondered who the heck would even wear this kind of colour...it just looks like an icky muddy brown.  Hello, Red River? :P

My immediate thought was to just throw it in the swap pile, but I thought no one in their right mind would like this colour!  I opened it and sifted some out and to my surprise it was a really nice charcoal silvery colour. Actually, quite similar to the colour of the bag.  Not sure if I can wear this many places, but I think I'll give it a try for fun!

The third item is Mai Couture highlighter paper.  This one is in St. Barts.  I haven't opened it yet, so I can't report anything on it.  I remember the drama from a previous box where we received ONE sheet of this paper.  I think it may have been Glymm? And...here we are with a 25 sheet packet!  I'm not sure yet if this is something I'll use.  I never tried the other sheet either.  I worry too much will come off the sheet.  Of course, at some point I should review it because I'm sure others are curious as well.

It says to lightly press and sweep paper to desired areas of face and body.  Recommended areas of highlight for face: top of cheekbones, chin, nose bridge, middle of forehead (who wants a shiny forehead?! lol), below brow bone.

The fourth item is a Mirabella Prime tube.  I've never heard of this brand before.  It's 12.85g.  I haven't opened it yet since it has a shelf life of 6 months after opening.  It says to avoid lash line but it is for face and eyes.  I guess avoiding the lash line pretty much goes for any product.  I think I only have one other primer.  It's by Quo.  I don't think I have anything else...maybe samples.  This is a big tube so hopefully, I'll get to try it soon.  Have you ever heard of this brand?

The fifth and final item is be a.... bombshell cosmetics lip gloss in Hot Mess. This is a full size at 3g.  As you can see it's a really bright vibrant red!  I've never heard of this brand either but I think this gloss looks like it might be fun.  Again, not going to be using this one any time soon, so I haven't opened it yet.  Do you like red lipstick/glosses?  I have so many lip glosses that I have to get through as I have purchased a lot this year.  I love lip glosses!

So, here is the whole lot.  Ipsy for the second month in a row has impressed me.  They do a good job getting out deluxe and larger sized samples.  It's nice to get these parcels from the States because we do get brands we haven't heard of before or are hard to get here.  Not sure of the value, but definitely worth it.  I was just too tired to search for prices and do math...bad day here!

Hope you have a great Tuesday!

  3. My daughter took mine, she said 'mommy I love this! can I have it?' How do you say no to a five year old girl asking for something pink?

The primer is excellent, I will repurchase it. It goes for $30 USD, but I would like to find a Canadian retailer if possible.

    1. LOL... of course, how do you say no!? Wow, $30..but yes I'd rather buy from a Canadian retailer. If you think it's good, I can't wait to try it!

  4. I've used all of the products - I got the gold pigment. All of them work pretty well, I thought that the papers were weird too, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results when I tried it. If you want to make them last longer, you can rip/cut them in half before using because you don't need the full sheet! For the primer, it works pretty well but my only caution is that if you have oily skin, it may cause you to break out.

  8. I loved this bag! Every product, except for maybe the UD liner. It's a little ironic because it's supposed to be iconic, but it DOES, in fact, smudge like mad on my lower lashline.

Found you through the "Canada Beauty Box Trades or Selling Group" and I'm glad to find another Canadian beauty blogger. Cheers! xx
