Glymm - February Edition

Well...another late bag for February was Glymm.  This one did not arrive until March 4th as well.  I think I'm getting a little tired of the long waits and then the disappointment. I'm actually still waiting for my February Beauty Box 5 and Starlooks.  Those ones are coming from the States, so I can't be too upset...but it just seems like February was such a slow month.

As you all probably know by now, there have been a lot of changes to Glymm.  Mostly, not good. I have cancelled and should be receiving my final bag for March.  The following bag would not have been terrible for the $10 ($11.20 with tax) price tag...but alas they raised their price to $15 and with tax I payed $16.80. $17 for a beauty bag like this is just not worth it when I do receive some great things from a bag like Ipsy for $15 US or BB5 for $12 US.  This is really disheartening because at one point Glymm was one of my favourites...they're slipping and fast.

This months bag is my favourite. I love the black bag with white hearts. Best one to date. The downside of Glymm bags is that the style of them is all identical.

Villainess - Ginger Snapped Bar Soap. Full size: 3.5g - $5.50. Sample size: .88g (it's about 1/4 of a full size) - $1.38.

I happen to really like the Villainess products. I love the smells. They are quite potent so if you don't like stronger scents it may not be for you. All the products always smell sooo edible! This particular soap features cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and a touch of vanilla. It smells absolutely intoxicating. :)

Purely Pro Cosmetics - Eye Shadow in Luxury. Full size: 1.7g - $18.

I've never heard of this brand before.  So, that's a good thing.  However, the colour that was sent leaves a lot to be desired.  It's just the wrong shade of brown and to be honest I don't know who it would be flattering for.  I see they do have some nice colours on the Glymm site such as a beautiful emerald green (Oh Yeah) and a fabulous sparkly purple (Rockstar).  However, it's hard to tell if those colours actually look like that because the one I received is way darker than the picture.  I'm not sure if everyone received the same colour, but the couple bags I've seen do have this brown.

This is a pretty darn close depiction of the colour.

Here it is swatched on my skin.  It just looks so...dated? I don't know what I'm looking for.  Maybe, it will make me look bruised.  In any case, I will give it a try since I already swatched it.  The consistency seems okay and the colour is buildable. This was about 3 layers.

Femme Couture - Plump Up the Colour in Plum Burst. Full size: 5.4g - $9.

So this product was an either or. Some ladies received the Monster Gloss which is also my Femme Couture.  I don't really know much about the company or how to find info on them, because there is nothing online! I'm not sure about the colour yet...it does seem a bit dark, but who knows.  The girls that received the Monster Gloss actually received double the amount because those tubes are 10.4g.

A fairly accurate picture of the colour.  You can see it's a dark plum colour with coral shimmer in it. (Also, please excuse my nails... I'm trying to grow them out and give them time off from nail polish..you can see I'm about halfway there! The splitting of my nails happened after I tried the Oxygen Nail Treatment by Julep. :()

Nail Luv - Gel Nail Polish in Berry Sweetie. Full size: 15ml - $14.95. Sample size: 5ml (estimate) - $4.98.

This product is BEYOND frustrating.  Why they sent it to us, I have NO idea.  If you don't know...gel nail polish needs a special UV lamp to cure!  So, if I put this on...it will never dry! I mean how many of us actually HAVE UV lamps sitting around?  Most of us just do regular polishing.  I'm not sure yet what to do with this...but it just seems like such a huge waste!

A closeup of the bottle...

Inside, is actually a really pretty colour.  It's so shimmery and pink!  What a shame. :(

As a Valentine treat, Glymm sent us a heart shaped lolly. Valentines had come and gone 18 days prior. :S

My heart came broken...just how my heart feels seeing this Canadian company go downhill...

Inside, there was the Glymm pamphlet explaining what is in our bag this month. Also, a 50% off subscription to Shinyset. I belive that is a monthly jewelry subscription service.  I will definitely check it out.  I know it says expired, but apparently they have given us until March 21 or something like that due to the late shipment of these bags.

Here is the whole bag.  If the nail polish wasn't a UV product I would probably be more okay with it.  The bag is pricey at $16.80 and the value is $33.36.

So, what do you think? Tomorrow is Friday..and I'd LOVE to do a Nailed It! Friday for the first in a long time!

    1. I saw on Glymm's website that they are selling a UV lamp. Probably their attempt to grab some more money...

    2. Angela, that is what I'm thinking! But...sorry I'm not going to spend $70 just so I can use this polish!

  3. So glad I cancelled. That's unfortunate about the gel polish. I guess they think you can take it to go get a gel manicure at a salon? Or buy a Gel manicure kit? Either way its going to cost more $$ to use it.

    1. LOL...I'll probably just end up giving it to someone who can use it? But, I don't know anyone who has an UV light..and I have some hardcore polish friends. ;)

  4. The brand Femme Couture is sold at Sally Beauty Supply in the US. It's about on par with Maybelline products. Here's a link to some info if you'd like http://www.sallybeauty.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-SA-Site/default/Search-Show?prefn1=brand&prefv1=FEMME&brandLandingPage=true

  5. I bet that eyeshadow would be great in the crease or as a brow powder! That box isn't that bad, but I'm still glad I unsubscribed. That uv gel is a bad move, what were they thinking?

    1. It could be okay in the crease...but I think we all have tons of browns laying around, right? I like the idea of using it for the brow! Well...Glymm is digging their own grave and sadly I don't see them being in business very much longer!

  6. gahhh i just cracked open my box and came here to see what u got!
i was wondering if anyone got a different eyeshadow color since the product card shows a navy blue (i already have a matte brown like this... that is actually a prettier shade than this)
but yeah what is the use of this nail polish
my heart (lollipop) also came slightly shattered :(

    1. Yeh, not exciting. I think everyone received the brown shadow. I would have adored that sparkly purple one on Glymm's site... or the emerald green. :( Most subbers will not be able to use the polish. *tear*

  7. I got the brown eyeshadow as well but my lollipop was not broken lol
No but seriously, this was my first Glymm bag and the same day I got it I cancelled. Unfortunately, with their neverending shipping delays I have been charged for 2 more bags. I also think that with the same money we get a lot better with other subs. Plus that uv nail polish is such a bad idea. I have also tried to suscribe to that jewellery sub that was on the card....guess what? they said they would send me an email to confirm and pay my sub and never got a thing. Another scam lol

    1. I'm sorry that you had a poor experience with Glymm. If you are looking for something else to sub, I highly suggest Starlooks or Beauty Box 5! :) The uv nail polish just made no sense! I was willing to try the Shinyset...but not anymore. :/ I think I've seen similar jewelry on Ebay for $2-$3 a piece!

  8. That bag is really cute, probably the best thing about it! I was really surprised to hear about their price increase because even at $10 at the start they weren't fantastic. I don't understand the gel polish, that's actually ridiculous! I would probably try the shadow on my brows but other than that I can't see using it.

    1. I agree! The bag is super cute! $10 is really all they should be charging for this kind of a bag. I will try the shadow on my brows...I really don't like how the colour looks on my skin tone.
